Backpacks for Kids !
If we aren't a part of the solution - then we are part of the problem. Everyone can make an effort to help in some small way. We are starting a program to collect New and Used backpacks. These backpacks will be given to underprivileged children , inner city kids and other needy individuals. This program will start with the children and people in the Central Arkansas area, and as it grows,the area and numbers of people reached, will expand. Hopefully - reaching out to other states and beyond. We are only limited by the size of our hearts and the extent of our dedication to this worthwhile project ! Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to buy the "latest and greatest" new items to equip their children for the new school year. Many kids - parents and others have need of a backpack year round. They are useful, much-needed items. A backpack is something that is beyond the means of many parents today. These days many of our citizens are hard-pressed to buy fuel for their cars and put a decent meal on the table for their families.  *"Nearly 13 million American children live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level, which is $20,000 a year for a family of four. The number of children living in poverty increased by more than 11 percent between 2000 and 2005. There are 1.3 million more children living in poverty today than in 2000, despite indications of economic recovery and growth. Research consistently shows that, on average, families need an income of about twice the federal poverty level to make ends meet. Luke 12:48 We are asking you to give. We are asking this in the name of those who have no voice. For these children and others you may not see in your everyday lives, but they are out there and they are certainly in need of your help. We want to make everyone aware of the need.Something that may seem "trivial" to you, can make a big difference in another person's life !

Kids Helping Kids! Each school can consider ways to get the kids to bring in a used or new backpack(s). Get the children involved in helping to do their part. You can put out a big box with a sign on it saying something like... You can start a school-wide - "Backpack for Kids" Project
You could give the kids an incentive for whichever class brings in the most backpacks. (Or) - Setting a goal of X number of backpacks . Then put a sign next to the "Backpacks for Kids" box with the numbers reached each day. The students will love to see the numbers climbing to reach the goal. In this way, the whole school can pitch in to reach the common goal and receive whatever incentive you wish to give them. Most kids will relish trying for and reaching the goal for it's own sake, once they know it's for such a good cause.  is a friend - won't you be a friend and help ?
