Do you believe you've been eating all the RIGHT foods and yet you're still not feeling well ? This gluten free information may help you understand what's going on. - Are you feeling tired and sluggish?
- Are you having constant chronic problems with your digestive system?
- Do you have a low or suppressed immune system?
- Does your abdominal area stay bloated and uncomfortable?
- Can't remember the last time you felt great and full of energy?
- Are you wondering what could possibly be wrong?
- Are you at a loss as to how to proceed?
- Do you have more questions than answers?
Join the club ! I know exactly how you feel. Before I was made aware of this important gluten free information. I was in the same boat as you for YEARS . My abdominal area was almost always bloated - distended and uncomfortable-painful, sometimes almost rigid to the touch. I could go on for months like this. Sore muscles - lower back pain - queasiness- general feeling of listlessness - low/no energy...tired all the time - no stamina - depressed - bloated abdomen - seem to catch every virus that you are exposed to . . . Another problem can be diarrhea - gas - you can lose or gain weight. Another very debilitating problem can be Vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Accompanying the vitamin and mineral deficiencies. . . there can be a devastating lowering of your immune system. If you are not able to absorb the nutrients your body needs. Your pH balance will be acidic and you will open the door to illness and disease. Remember - everything is connected .....You must treat your entire system as a whole. If you look at one problem as separate and un-related to another, you will not have the good positive results you hope to achieve. Think of a stone being thrown into the water. The stone is a symbol for the bad or unhealthy food or chemical put into your body. The STONE will not hit the bottom of the pond without a ripple effect moving outward and effecting everything. You will need to start with a good solid foundation for your entire body and then all will progress from there. With this gluten free information you will understand the importance of eliminating gluten from your normal healthy every day diet. Gluten is the protein part of a number of popular grains used in many many processed foods and everyday items , such as bread, bagels, cereals, and flours. Gluten is in Wheat - Barley - Rye and in other related grains. The glutenin in wheat flour is what gives bread dough it's elasticity and makes bagels chewy. More Culprits : - Spelt
- Durum flour
- Cous Cous
- Bulgar
- Semolina
- Kamut
Should You Avoid Gluten in Your Diet ?If you have Celiac Disease you must AVOID GLUTEN and eliminate it from your diet forever. But many people, who have not been diagnosed with Celiac disease - may have wheat allergies or an intolerance to wheat products. Inflammation is your enemy....It has been shown that a gluten free diet can improve the overall quality of life for people with Celiac Disease - Gluten Intolerance and other food allergies. Because once the cycle of inflammation of your intestines begins, you may start to notice the negative side effects of foods that normally would not bother you. Your small intestine can become damaged when it comes in contact with gluten (if you are sensitive to it) and then become inflamed and swollen. This inflammation can lead to other problems, such as the inability to absorb the nutrients from your foods. You may feel tired - run down and listless. You catch nearly every virus or illness that you are exposed to. One thing leads to another and you are on a slippery slope to chronic illnesses and a poor quality of life. A GLUTEN FREE DIET MAKES GOOD SENSE FOR EVERYONE
It's simple, easy and you may start to feel the positive results almost immediately. Start now and eliminate gluten from your diet and perhaps be on your way to feeling better. We hope that the gluten free information here on this page and others on this website will help you realize how important this is and how much better you will feel, once you change your diet. It's not as hard as you may think,if I can do it, you can too. Good health, renewed energy and emotional well-being will be your reward. Check the labels if you buy any packaged foods ! Some of you may have a long-standing experience and familiarity with gluten free products - but when our family began to eat gluten free items, we didn't have a clue as to what to buy or where to start. That's why we have put a few of our favorites here, with brief explanations, to help you get started without too much difficulty.
If you are imaginative, you can try your own hand at putting together your own mixtures and in this way you will have complete control over all the ingredients. We hope this short list will help to give you a few ideas. You will need to keep in mind that since the (Gluten-free) flours have no ingredient for elasticity you will need to add your own. Such as Glutino - Xanthan Gum, or sometimes a bit of potato flour for moistness . . . Experiment, it won't take you long to get the hang of it! Or - you can avoid some of the dismal failures I and my family had to endure - by getting a few good cookbooks! They take away the guesswork and disappointment.
Since some of you may not be familiar with Gluten free products - we are highlighting a few of the common everyday products that we use on a regular basis. Quinoa- (keen-wa) - (Quinoa) is the king of grains - a Perfect protein with a wide range of amino acids. It has approximately 17% high quality protein. You can use it as a cereal or use the flour. The flour is very delicious! It has a distinctive flavor - nutty and full bodied. Sorry at this time we don't see the ground quinoa at gluten free.com. You can also use Quinoa in place of rice - cook as you would cook rice, then you can add whatever you like. Glutenfree.com, has... Alti Plano - Quinoa Hot Cereal Variety - It's really good and of course, it has all the healthy benefits of Quinoa. Bob's Red Mill Almond Meal/Flour - We blend in with other flours or use on it's own , depending on what we are cooking. Glutino - White Rice Flour (2lb) - Contains fiber - B vitamins and iron as well as niacin and calcium. Bob's Red Mill - Buckwheat Flour - Buckwheat is not a variety of wheat , but is a member of the rhubarb family. It is highly nutritious and tasty too. Bob's Red Mill - Sweet White Sorghum Flour - Nice to add to baked goods. Bob's Red Mill - All-Purpose Baking Flour - is fine on it's own, or you can add a bit of some other flour, depending on your taste. I find the flavor too intense for baked goods, so I use it for 'breading' or coating meats, etc. to saute'. Bob's Red Mill - Organic Coconut Flour - This is versatile and delicious. Coconut flour is high in fiber, low in digestible carbohydrate, a good source of protein and can be used to make a variety of delicious baked goods, snacks, desserts, and main dishes. Recipes using coconut flour are so delicious that you won't be able to tell that they aren't made with wheat. Coconut is naturally low in carbohydrates. Bob's Red Mill - Homemade Wonderful Bread Mix - This is really delicious! Dowd & Rogers - Italian Chestnut Flour - Description: Imported from Italy, our chestnut flour is full of sweet, nutty flavor. The perfect ingredient for adding more flavor to all your baked goods. Substitute up to one-third of the recommended flour in your favorite recipes with chestnut flour. And unlike other nut flours, chestnut flour is remarkably low in fat -- a single serving contains only 1 gram of fat! Spectrum - Organic Shortening - This a healthy, trans-fat free alternative to traditional shortening for flaky crusts and crispy fries. Cream Hill Estates - Lara’s Rolled Oats (1 kg) - This is delicious cereal. Description: These are old fashioned style and can be cooked as a hot cereal or porridge and can be used in recipes. Ener-G - Seattle Brown Bread - A delicious sliced bread that's great for toast and sandwiches. Suitable for traveling, too. La Tortilla Factory - Ivory Teff Wraps - These wraps are so convenient. ANDI - Bar - Vanilla Shake - I like this one alot - it has 15 grams of protein and a little fructose. But, the ingredients are good , and it will stave off temptation when you are out and about. They may contain traces of peanuts and other nuts - so always be on the lookout if you are allergic to nuts. Bumble Bar - Lemon - lemony with chewy toasted sesame seeds in this lively bar.
